A workshop on the transport of hazardous goods in the Alpine region will be held at the Bavarian Ministry of Economic Affairs, Infrastructure, Transport and Technology in Munich on 24–25 September 2009.

This two-day workshop, organised by Logistik-Kompetenz-Zentrum, Prien am Chiemsee, in cooperation with the European Space Agency (ESA), aims to determine the possibility of building sustainable services to monitor the transport of hazardous goods in the Alpine region using terrestrial and space-based technologies. The workshop will present the current situation to all concerned stakeholders, while giving them the opportunity to express their needs and requirements for a sustainable design, together with the deployment of such a service.

Four sessions will be held during the workshop. The first session will discuss the hazardous good transport problem as seen by the countries sharing the Alpine region, while the second session will focus on regulatory issues and actions. The third session will provide a stakeholder’s view, while the fourth session will review the way forward.

The agenda includes presentations by: ESA; the Bavarian Minister of Economic Affairs; the Salzburg Provincial Government; the Italian Ministry of Infrastructure and Transport; the European Commission, Security of Land Transport and Dangerous Goods; the German Federal Ministry of Transport Building and Urban Affairs; and the International Transport Regulations and Transport Emergency Response Section, European Chemical Industry Council (CEFIC). A complete agenda can be found here.

All interested parties are welcome to attend this workshop. Registration and contact information can be found at the ESA Congrex conference website or by visiting the Integrated Applications website.
