Life support, habitation and human factors Bearing in mind the main objective of the Aurora Programme is to safely land a manned crew on the surface of Mars, one has to think about health of the crew, psychological factors, medicine, entertainment, social habits, food and water management, etc. That is what life support, habitation and human factors are all about. Whether one gets a proper amount of food or water and practices sports or entertainment on a regular basis has a great impact on psychological wellbeing and the other way around. New ways of training and selection criteria should be in place along with mitigation techniques for space environment effects on the body and air or water regeneration systems.
