Eyharts answers questions from space

21 February 2008   Today at 15:31 CET, as part of the Amateur Radio on the International Space Station (ARISS) programme, Léopold Eyharts will contact the Robespierre school in Rueil-Malmaison, near Paris, for a question and answer session with students.
17:00 CET - Crew on way to quarters

20 February 2008   As is tradition, the STS-122 astronauts have performed an inspection of the Space Shuttle's heat shield. Shuttle Commander Frick also said a few words on behalf of the crew. The astronauts are now in the Astrovan making their way to crew quarters at KSC where they will be reunited with their families. A post-landing press briefing is scheduled for no earlier than 17:30 CET.
15:10 CET - Atlantis is home!

20 February 2008   "A smooth and uneventful landing" according to the NASA TV commentator. Atlantis main gear touchdown after mission elapsed time of 12 days, 18 hours, 21 minutes and 55 seconds, at 15:07:20 CET. Wheels stop occured at 15:08:08 CET.
15:01 CET - Atlantis seen from KSC

20 February 2008   Six minutes to touchdown! Atlantis can be seen from KSC.. a bit fuzzy but coming into focus very quickly.
14:55 CET - All set for landing

20 February 2008   Atlantis and its crew of seven are heading for landing at Kennedy Space Center. Travelling at 12 times the speed of sound, Atlantis has flown over Central America and past Cuba. Crews at the landing site have made their way to the runway ready to receive Atlantis.
14:03 CET - Atlantis heads home

20 February 2008   The de-orbit burn has been completed. Atlantis is heading home on the first landing opportunity at NASA's Kennedy Space Center, Florida (image left). Landing is expected at 15:07 CET.
13:33 CET - Go for burn!

20 February 2008   Shuttle crew has just been given 'go' for the deorbit burn. The two minute, 44 second burn, using the Shuttle's two orbital manoeuvering system engines, slows Atlantis ready for re-entry in the Earth's atmosphere. The deorbit burn will occur at 13:59 CET, leading to a 15:07 CET landing on Shuttle Landing Facility runway 15.
13:09 CET - Go for fluid loading

20 February 2008   Weather conditions at Kennedy Space Center remain favourable for today's first landing opportunity. All systems aboard Atlantis are performing normally, and the crew has been given go-ahead to begin fluid loading. They have already donned their orange launch-entry suits. The deorbit burn will occur at 13:59 CET, leading to a 15:07 CET landing on Shuttle Landing Facility runway 15. Go-no-go deorbit burn decision in the next 30 minutes.
11:29 CET - Doors closed

20 February 2008   Space Shuttle Atlantis' payload bay doors have been closed in preparation for today's planned deorbit and landing. Weather conditions at Florida's Shuttle Landing Facility are favourable for landing at 15:07 CET.
