Diary in pictures

Complementing the launch diary, this image gallery provides a glimpse into the range of activities that were carried out to prepare ESA's ice mission for launch. The gallery begins with photos of the satellite being shipped from the ‘IABG’ test centre in Ottobrunn, Germany, to the Baikonur Cosmodrome in Kazakhstan, then photos of the launch campaign activities as they were carried out, and finally the launch. The most recent pictures feature first.

Description
ESA Project Manager Richard Francis speaks during the CryoSat-2 pre-launch briefing.

Earlier today, the pre-launch briefing took place involving the PI, the Project Manager, industry representatives and members of the extended 'team of teams' at ESOC supporting operations. The briefing provided the latest technical information on launch preparations and status of the satellite and launcher.

It's a traditional yet crucial step that confirmed the teams, computers, networks and ground stations supporting the mission are ready for liftoff.
