A colourful selection of posters and calendars illustrating the past three decades of ESA missions and programmes, and highlighting activities at ESOC, the European Space Operations Centre, Darmstadt, Germany.

This gallery was selected from archives kept at ESOC and from a collection maintained by Klaus Lenhart, who retired from the Centre in 2000 after 37 years.

Description

A poster highlighting Europe's contributions to the ISS: the Columbus module, the ATV (Automated Transfer Vehicle) series of resupply/reboost vessels, Node-2 and Node-3.

The Columbus lab was docked to the station in 2008 and is Europe's cornerstone contribution to the ISS.

For the first time, in 2009, a European astronaut, Frank De Winne, will assume the role of ISS Commander.
