A colourful selection of posters and calendars illustrating the past three decades of ESA missions and programmes, and highlighting activities at ESOC, the European Space Operations Centre, Darmstadt, Germany.
This gallery was selected from archives kept at ESOC and from a collection maintained by Klaus Lenhart, who retired from the Centre in 2000 after 37 years.
A signed, limited-edition print created by artist Charles Wilp to celebrate ESOC's 25th anniversary, 5 October 1992. The print was autographed by many of those working at ESOC at the time.
Charles Paul Wilp (15 September 1932, Berlin – 2 January 2005, Düsseldorf) was a German advertising designer, artist, photographer and short-movie editor. He was also a student of Man Ray in New York.
The intersection of space and art was a key theme of his work. In April 1995, he took part in an ESA-sponsored parabolic flight to experience microgravity, and throughout the 1990s, he created numerous works using spaceflight, space travel and space exploration as major thematic elements.
