Urbanisation

Urbanisation - Example of Chicago

Urbanisation is the increase in population in cities or towns. The various effects of urbanisation on the settlement which undergoes this development range from ecological, economical, socio-economical, and socio-psychological consequences.
An immediate change in the city’s landscape occurs to traditional local services and small scale industries, being substituted by business companies, often with national or international backgrounds.
Rising rents drive the working class and people with low income out of the city.

The following table and images show historical images from the site of Chicago, USA, and visualises the fast development of a rural area into a big city within a few decades.
