Exercise 4 - NOAA images

Study the NOAA images from 16 March 2000. They are infrared images, which means that the temperature is shown on a scale ranging from white (low temperatures) to black (high temperatures).

The NOAA images have a greater resolution than the Meteosat images. Note the changes in temperature for Italy and the Mediterranean.

Describe cloud formation around the Alps.

Describe the details that can be observed in the Alps. Does the colour white represent clouds only?
