An overview of the ESA Industry training course, held in 2008

The training course for Industry organized by the ESA SME Policy Office (formerly known as the SME Unit), and Skillnet - an enterprise-led support body whose mission is to enhance the skills of people in employment in Irish industry - took place from April 16th to 18th 2008 in Dublin, Ireland.

The courses, open to attendees from companies headquarted in all ESA Member States, provided information in the fundamentals of:
  • How to do business with ESA,
  • Tender Procedures, and
  • instructions on 'Writing a Good Proposal for an ESA Invitation To Tender'.

The courses comprised lectures supported by presentations, videos and photographs, followed by case studies and practical exercises.

Since 1999, ESA’s SME Office has proposed and coordinated a formal training programme for industry which gives priority to SMEs, and covers a number of engineering and management processes related to space systems manufacturing.

Helping SMEs improve their technical skills and comptence through training and technical assistance is a key part of ESA's measures in support of industrial competitiveness in general and of Small and Medium sized Entrerprizes (SMEs) in particular.
