Columbus launch
The Erasmus Centre hosts, organises and supports events (internal and external) for up to 700 participants. We provide tours, catering services, advanced multimedia and audio/visual infrastructure. Telecommuncations services include: advanced teleconferencing for multiple sites, e-learning tools, virtual classes and remote lectures.
The Columbus laboratory is ESA's biggest single contribution to the International Space Station. The 4.5-m diameter cylindrical module is equipped with flexible reseach facilities that offer extensive science capabilities. On the occasion of its launch, on 7 February 2008, The Erasmus Centre hosted a big event.
ATV docking
The first ATV (Automated Trasfer Vehicle) docking event was followed live from the Erasmus Centre with live connections to mission control and advanced media tool for showing all the relevant phases of the delicated approach and docking phases. The ATV Jules Verne was launched on 9 March 2008 and docked to the International Space Station on 3 April 2008.
Paris Air Show at Le Bourget 2007
The 47th International Paris Air Show held from 18 to 24 June 2007 was a success. ESA featured some of its best material and media tools. The Erasmus Centre, among other tasks, was responsible for a 3D show with images and footage from space.
Frank De Winne meets the students
In May 2009, ESA astronaut Frank De Winne will fly to the International Space Station at the start of his six-month OasISS mission. This mission sees him become the first European commander of the Station by October 2009. He is a very active public person in educational and PR events.
Danish architects design future space stations
One of the many workshops hosted by the Erasmus Centre. The Centre provides logistic support and information about ESA’s research platforms and systems, space- and ground-based through fact sheets, newsletters, databases and digital archives.
SUCCESS Contest Meeting & Workshop
The SUCCESS (Space Station Utilisation Contest Call for European Student Initiatives) Contest meeting and workshop was held at the Erasmus Centre on 26-27 May 2008. Initiated by Rogier Schonenborg.
