15 June 2009 Today at the Paris Air Show, taking place at Le Bourget, ESA and Arianespace signed a Frame Contract for the procurement of launch services. It constitutes one of the key elements of the new legal framework on launchers exploitation from 2009 onwards. The main purpose of the Frame Contract is to maximise the use of Ariane, Vega, and Soyuz at CSG, while ensuring competitive launch service prices for ESA missions and defining a set of standard contractual provisions for all launch services procured by the Agency from Arianespace.
In addition, the Frame Contract implements the decisions taken on launch service procurement policy by the ESA Council meeting at ministerial level, and fosters the establishment of a European institutional market for the launchers operated from the CSG.
