The objective of this practice work is understanding optics, reflection and refraction, making use of daily materials and objects, spoons, ladles, bath mirrors, music CDs, forks, glasses, glass of water.

We want to understand the reflection with the observation of a bath mirror, a spherical mirror, a spoon, or a ladle. And the refraction? It’s surprising to see how a straight object seems broken in a glass of water, for example a pencil or a spoon. We can also make use of a flask, or a spherical fishbowl full of water, as an eyeball; we can place a glass, as the crystalline lens, and understand how the eye works, and its anomalies, short-sightedness and far-sightedness. We will also distinguish between real and virtual images with mirrors and glasses. Finally, we can understand the rainbow, or the colour of the sunat dawn or dusk from the chromatic dispersion of light. All these things are reinforced by means of computer flash simulations.

This work is part of the complete Multimedia Course of Physics for the last year of the Secondary School. The level is of the project is for students up to twelve years old.
