Students formed groups of four and chose one or more of the thematic approaches or workshops. It takes 6 to 8 hours of group-work for one theme. For each thematic approach, they have to do a theoretical part (research on the theme) and a practical part (calculations, interpretations).

The themes from which students can choose are:

• Navigation satellites and GPS
• Earth observation for monitoring and implementing marine policies
• Weather satellites and research on cyclones
• Case study on Rodania (a computer program on Amazon deforestation)
• Biological applications (photosynthesis, vegetation and ozone)
• Physical applications (launching, velocity and orbits)
• Chemical applications (combustibles and space)

1. Each theme group has to do one workshop (during 6 or 8 lessons, in units of two hours during the courses of participating teachers). The students are coached in their choice, depending on their section (‘Latin-mathematics’, ‘Latin-science’, ...).
2. Each theme group chooses one or more workshops within special seminar hours.
