Air Revitalization System
 
The Air Revitalization System is one of the Environmental Control and Life Support Systems that will be relocated to Node-3. It removes carbon dioxide, controls trace contaminants and monitors the major constituents in the cabin atmosphere.
 
Crew-generated carbon dioxide is removed from the atmosphere by sorbent beds. The beds are regenerated upon exposure to heat and space vacuum. A Trace Contaminant Control System ensures that over 200 various trace chemical contaminants generated from material off-gassing and crew metabolic functions remain within allowable limits. A mass spectrometer measures the oxygen, nitrogen, hydrogen, carbon dioxide, methane and water vapour content of the cabin atmosphere.
