There is a clear trend to spin-in more terrestrial technologies in space systems. With the fast pace of development of new commercial data communication mediums and protocols, the integration of some of these technologies in satellite and spacecraft do as much sense as their integration in ground applications.
 
With the general need to increase the data rate and to reduce the quantity of harness, we are constantly seeking new ways to improve our data systems. This means assessing the value of integrating recent technologies. This has recently be the case for SATA and Power-on-Data lines technologies.
