Emergency telemedicine system demonstration at SITEF 2002

“DELTASS improves the efficiency of rescue, first aid and emergency operations in disaster situations such as earthquakes and large explosions, where existing terrestrial infrastructure could be damaged,” says Francesco Feliciani, Head of the Applications Section in the ESA Telecommunications department.
He adds, "the SITEF we will have a life-size demonstration of DELTASS with operation ready equipment, teams for search and rescue, first medical aid and ambulance operating with simulating victims, showing how data and voice communications will be used to improve the medical and logistics coordination in case of emergency.”
The demonstration will take place on 24 October from 14:00 to 17:00 at the CNES stand where the DELTASS (Emergency Telemedicine System for Disaster Situations) Medical and Coordination Centre will be installed. This will give visitors an opportunity to follow the progress of the demonstration. After the demonstration a panel discussion will be held at 18:00 with key people including French Research Minister C. Mathieu.
