The portal brings together ESA's health-related activities
ESA's new 'Space for Health' web portal

12 June 2008
ESA announces the launch of a new web portal embracing ESA’s health-related activities across all directorates of the Agency (http://health.esa.int). This portal offers a focal point for all parties interested in all domains of health activities carried out at the Agency.

Stakeholders from the health industry, health institutions, universities, government and international organizations, who are seeking information, expertise and collaboration with the Agency, may now turn to this central thematic portal about ongoing health-related activities.

Organized according to health domain, such as medicine, wellness or public health, projects within a particular subject are grouped together independent of which ESA directorate is running the project. End users can easily access an overview of all activities being carried out in their particular field of interest.

The portal showcases the Agency's assets available for health activities
Users can also find overviews of the Agency’s various assets that are available for such activities, including satellite communications, Earth observation, terrestrial- and space-based research facilities, as well as links to the Agency’s various funding programmes.

Having all of the Agency’s health-related activities available on one portal is particularly important for health applications, as Dr Didier Schmitt, Health Expert within ESA’s Integrated Applications Promotion (IAP) initiative, explains: “The challenges faced by the health industry and health providers when searching for solutions can usually only be solved by an holistic integrated approach, where all relevant expertise and assets are brought together.”
