Andromeda Galaxy in infrared and X-rays image

Herschel’s infrared image of the Andromeda Galaxy shows rings of dust that trace gaseous reservoirs where new stars are forming. XMM-Newton’s X-ray image shows stars approaching the ends of their lives.
