To bridge the gap between idea and actual business, the European Space Incubator (ESI) and its associated network, ESINET (European Space Incubators NETwork), are designed to get space to non-space projects off the ground and help them develop into viable businesses. ESI is an initiative of the ESA Technology Transfer and Promotion Office and its Technology Transfer Programme. The ESA Technology Transfer Programme is offering space-developed technologies to non-space companies, expanding business for space industry and creating new business and jobs for non-space companies.
ESI is located in ESTEC, the technical centre of ESA, in Noordwijk, the Netherlands. ESI will provide selected start-up companies with operational services and know-how in a state-of-the-art technical environment, including some or all of the following:
- office space and shared facilities
- provision of "hands-on" assistance and business development support
- access to finance
- access to strategic partnership and networking
- access to engineering support and expertise from ESA experts
- access to ESA resources
- access to international markets and partners through ESINET.
