Baltic Region snow maps for select days in March 2007. The colour white represents heavy snow pack; blue represents water; yellow represents areas where coverage could not be obtained due to clouds; and grey represents non-classified areas due to missing data or inadequate sunlight.

Satellites are monitoring and mapping the snow melting process to help local authorities manage water supplies and predict and prepare for floods.
