MetOp's polar orbit

Something about orbits...

Some Earth observation satellites follow a special type of polar orbit, called a Sun-synchronous orbit.

As it travels from the North to the South Pole the satellite passes over the same part of the Earth at roughly the same local time (e.g. 3 pm) every day.
