The YouTube SpaceLab science competition is close to seeing two of its experiment proposals flown to the International Space Station.

This international science competition challenges students aged 14-16 and 17-18 to design an experiment that can be conducted in microgravity on the ISS. Out of 2000 entries, 60 have made it as finalists… and you can vote for the one you like best!

Of these sixty finalists, the US led with 10, followed by India with nine. Rounding out the top five countries in terms of total submissions are Poland, Canada and Spain. In all, European countries contributed 21 finalists.

Starting today until 24 January, the YouTube community will be invited to judge these finalists alongside a prestigious panel of judges. The two global winners will see their experiments sent into orbit and performed on the ISS in summer 2012 – live-streamed on You Tube from space!

To have your say, all you have to do is go to www.youtube.com/spacelab … and vote for the best experiment!
