This animation shows the Baltic Sea, its shipping routes and ice thickness. Providing passage for more than 2000 large vessels every day, the Baltic Sea is the busiest ice-covered sea in the world. Thanks to satellite-based monitoring services, maritime traffic continues throughout the winter months.
