Clouds and aerosols play an important role in Earth’s radiation budget, but these interactions are not completely understood. ESA’s EarthCARE mission addresses these issues.

EarthCARE will advance our understanding of the role that clouds and aerosols play in reflecting incident solar radiation back into space and trapping infrared radiation infrared radiation emitted from Earth’s surface. This will help improve climate predictions and weather forecasts.
