The Service Module (SVM) interfaces with the launch vehicle and the Payload Module (PLM).

It provides the following service functions:

  • attitude and orbit control, including propulsion
  • electrical power generation
  • distribution of commands
  • telemetry generation, telecommand processing and various application functions
