| | | | | | | | | SvalSat station, Svalbard | | Aeolus mission ground segment
The purpose of the ground segment is to monitor and control the satellite and receive and process the science data.
The Level 1 wind profile data will be available at the Science Data Processing Centre within 3 hours of observation.
Weather prediction centres will then assimilate these wind data into numerical prediction models and the key output will improve weather forecasting. Other Level 2 data products will be generated by atmospheric science centres. Data from Aeolus are downlinked every orbit to the SvalSat receiving station in Svalbard, Norway.
