Joint campaign prepares for Sentinel-2 and FLEX ![]() Measuring the efficiency of light reaction at leaf level during the CEFLES2 campaign ![]() Aircraft used during the CEFLES2 campaign for taking measurements for the candidate FLEX mission. The Piper Seneca III (right), from IBIMET, carries an instrument called AirFLEX for taking fluorescence measurements and a thermal camera. The Sky Arrow ERA (Environmental Research Aircraft) (left) is capable of performing surface-flux measurements through airborne eddy covariance. ![]() The main aim of the FLEX concept is to make global observations of photosynthesis through the measurement of chlorophyll-fluorescence. The concept employs a very high-spectral resolution imaging spectrometer. FLEX, along with five other candidate missions, is currently undergoing assessment. ![]() Natural colour 'quick-look' image of one of the CEFLES2 test areas over France. Some of the ground-measured fields are outlined in red. The image was taken from the INTA CASA 212-200 aircraft with the AHS (Airborne Hyperspectral Scanner) and SIM.GA HYPER imaging sensors. ![]() Taking hyperspectral measurements over a field of bare soil during the CEFLES2 campaign ![]() Ground-based hyperspectral measurements at canopy level over a field of wheat during the CEFLES2 campaign Release date: 8 April 2008 |
