Observing land surface temperatures from the AATSR   AATSR LST (land surface temperature) image of the UK and Northern France obtained on 16 July 2005 (night-time). The northern region part of the UK is obscured by cloud. Major cities, such as London and Paris, can be seen clearly as areas of high LST (orange and red), due to the urban heat island effect.   Collecting ground data during the WATERMED field campaign in Morocco, in March 2003, for validation of AATSR LSTs.
