 HI-RES JPEG (Size: 5922 kb)  HI-RES TIF (Size: 23 168 kb)
The HRSC obtained this image during orbit 456 with a resolution of approximately 25 metres per pixel. The scene shows an area located at about 3º South and 335º East.

Aureum Chaos is located in the eastern part of Valles Marineris, south-west of the 280 kilometre-wide impact crater Aram Chaos. This is an example of the chaotic terrain contained in this part of the Valles Marineris.

The HRSC obtained this image of Aureum Chaos during orbit 456 with a resolution of approximately 25 metres per pixel. The scene shows an area located at about 3º South and 335º East, looking roughly north to north-east.

In right-hand corner, a roughly five kilometre-wide region of bright material is observed. This material appears to form distinct layers that may have been created by the evaporation of fluids or by hydrothermal activity.

The HRSC obtained this image of Aureum Chaos during orbit 456 with a resolution of approximately 25 metres per pixel. The scene shows an area located at about 3º South and 335º East, looking roughly north-west.

It shows a close-up on the roughly five kilometre-wide region where some bright material is observed. This material appears to form distinct layers that may have been created by the evaporation of fluids or by hydrothermal activity.
