21 February 2003   ESA INFO 05-2003. The Columbia Accident Investigation Board (CAIB), chaired by retired Admiral Harold Gehman, has taken over full responsibility for the investigation, with support from a number of boards and expert groups.

14 February 2003   NASA RELEASE: 03-072 Thermal analysis shows hot plasma possible in Columbia left wheel well area

Preliminary analysis by a NASA working group this week indicates that the temperature indications seen in Columbia's left wheel well during entry would require the presence of plasma (super heated gas surrounding the orbiter during re- entry).

5 February 2003   ESA INFO 03-2003. Yesterday, 4 February 2003, a memorial ceremony was held at NASA/JSC in the presence of US President G.W. Bush, representatives of the families of the Columbia astronauts, many other dignitaries and representatives of the International Partners. The Head of the European Astronauts Centre, several astronauts, the Houston resident office and ESA staff associated with the STS-107 payloads represented ESA.
