Follow the launch of Sentinel 5P, the next satellite of Europe’s Copernicus programme.

Lift of is scheduled on 13 October at 09:27 GMT (11:27 CEST) from the Plesetsk Cosmodrome in northern Russia.

Sentinel-5P (for Sentinel-5 Precursor) is the first Copernicus mission dedicated to monitoring our atmosphere. The satellite carries the state-of-the-art Tropomi instrument to map a multitude of trace gases such as nitrogen dioxide, ozone, formaldehyde, sulphur dioxide, methane, carbon monoxide and aerosols – all of which affect the air we breathe and therefore our health, and our climate.

Sentinel-5P is the result of close collaboration between ESA, the European Commission, the Netherlands Space Office, industry, data users and scientists.

Live Transmission will be in 2 parts:

1/ Last preparations at Plesetsk with lift-off, ascent and first flight phase also from ESA's Operations Center (ESOC) in Darmstadt, Germany.

2/ After ballistic flight, separation of satellite, acquisition of signal and management statements.

Live transmission can also be followed on the web via the ESA portal. 

As soon as possible after the TV transmission, launch highlights will be posted on ESA TV ftp server:
