- Description
Since the successful launch of Integral ESA's gamma ray Observatory on the 17 October 2003; scientists have been busy getting the spacecreaft fully operational. In December last year they even received the first results, so called ""first lights"".
This program outlines what the scientists have been doing since Integral launch, the fist results and the scientist hopes for the future. The programme comprises of a 5-minute A-roll with split audio (english commentary/international sound) and is complimented by a B-roll with clean international sound.INTEGRAL FIRST RESULTS

Some malicious tongues would say: there is only bad news coming from space these days. But these scientists here are the best example to show them one: they are wrong.

All of them are part of ESAÕs mission INTEGRAL, the international Gamma-Ray Astrophysics Laboratory. At ESTEC in Noordwijk they are having a science team meeting to discuss the first results from the mission. On October the 17.2002, INTEGRAL started its journey from the Russian cosmodrome in Baikonur in Kazakhstan on board of Russian Proton rocket. INTEGRALÕs task will be to gather gamma rays, the most energetic radiation that comes from space. The events that made the universe habitable were catastrophic. Stellar explosions provided the energy that was needed to form the elements from which planets and living things could be built. INTEGRAL will help us to understand this process in much more detail.
