- Description
One of the first tasks for ESA’s new astronauts was general survival training in June 2010. ESA astronaut Thomas Pesquet and his five ESA astronaut colleagues Samantha Cristoforetti, Luca Parmitano, Alexander Gerst, Andreas Mogensen and Tim Peake learnt how to strip a car for parts, get rescued by a helicopter, survive at sea and scavenge for food.
Thomas is set to be launched on a Soyuz spacecraft from Baikonur Cosmodrome in Kazakhstan in 2016 for a long-duration mission to the International Space Station.
