ESA's Concurrent Design Facility develops concepts for future space missions

CDF News

SECESA 2012 5th Workshop

20 April 2012   The ESA Directorate for Technical and Quality Management and the Concurrent Design Facility are organising the fifth International Workshop on Systems and Concurrent Engineering for Space Applications, in partnership with the Instituto Superior Tecnico of Lisbon (IST), to be hosted in Lisbon, Portugal on 17-18-19 October 2012.

Rapid Prototype 1:1 Scale Model of OPS-SAT

5 March 2012   OPS-SAT was a recent study in the CDF to create an In-Orbit Demonstrator to test innovative mission control and operations concepts by using a "3U" cubesat. The latter is approximately 10 x 10 x 30 cm, which is 3 times the volume of a single cubesat, (or "3U" in cubesat parlance). Near the end of the study the customer asked if it were possible to create a full-scale mockup of the spacecraft.
