Security at ESA

Security is a top priority at ESA, it has to be; Member States, and ESA's national and industrial partners rely on the Agency to safeguard the valuable information they provide.

The task of ensuring that ESA has all the security capabilities it needs to safeguard the information in its keeping and manage space programmes that have elements of a classified nature, has been given to the ESA Security Office.

Under the authority of the Director General, and in accordance with the ESA Security Regulations, the ESA Security Office defines ESA's overall security policy and proposes to the ESA Security Committee any measures it feels are needed to further enhance security at ESA. Once approved, it is then the responsibility of the Security Office to supervise their implementation.

The Security Office interfaces with ESA's external partners and organisations as well as with ESA Directorates and Programmes.
