Didier Faivre
Director of NAV
Didier Faivre took up duty as ESA Director of the Galileo Programme and Navigation-related Activities (D/NAV) on 1 April 2011. He had been acting Director since 1 January.
Didier Faivre has worked more than 25 years on space activities. He graduated from the Ecole Polytechnique in Paris and first joined the Commissariat à l’Energie Atomique. From 1983 to 2000 he made his career in the French space agency CNES, where he had experience both on programmatic and operational issues, with positions at CSG, the European Spaceport at Kourou, French Guiana, and also at the Toulouse Space Centre and CNES Headquarters in Paris.
He joined ESA in 2000, within the Directorate of Applications involved in the preparation of the Telecommunication strategy. He was head of the ESA Navigation Department from June 2005 to December 2010.
