Plasma Technology for Space

Prof. van de Sanden was the co-organiser of the recent 27th International Conference on Phenomena in Ionised Gases. He will give an overview of plasma research and facilities at TU Eindhoven, including a 10kW multi-cathode plasma source which might be suitable as a high-power spacecraft plasma propulsion device. He will also give insights into the application of plasma sources to development of other advanced space technologies, including surface materials processing relevant to fabrication of permeable membranes and thin film deposition for fuel cells and batteries, high efficiency solar cells, doping of integrated circuit materials for radiation hardening, nanoelectronics etching etc.
