1st Global Trajectory Optimisation Competition

1st Global Trajectory Optimisation Competition

Seventeen international teams started working on a trajectory optimisation problem released by the ACT on the 07/11/2005.

At the Global Trajectory Optimisation Workshop (ESTEC, 2nd February 2006) the teams will present their methodology and discuss upon its use in connection with the competition problem.

ESA people involved:

Dr. Dario Izzo (EUI-ACT), project initiator and scientific responsible

Mr. Ian Carnelli (EUI-ACT), technical support
Mr. Paolo de Pascale (OPS-GA), technical support

News:

16/02/2006: The various presentations are available in pdf format

30/01/2006: Workshop attendants list available

23/01/2006: Final programme is available for the Workshop

12/01/2006: Preliminary programme is available for the Workshop

07/12/2005: Preliminary rankings have been formed.

06/12/2005: Twelve out of seventeen teams sent back their trajectories. The evaluation process to form the rankings has started.

28/11/2005: ftp accounts created for all the teams. The results should be posted there or sent by e-mail to act@esa.int.

14/11/2005: Deadline for submission of trajectories extended to December 5th

14/11/2005: Suggested value for g0 is 9.80665 m/s^2

10/11/2005: Problem description updated including a constraint on the maximum time of flight (30 years), consequently upper limit for arrival date is 2060.

09/11/2005: Clarification T=.04 N means T=0.04 N

08/11/2005: Problem description updated including a constraint on the maximum arrival date (year 2100) and on the minimum heliocentric distance (0.2 AU)

07/11/2005: The problem has been released.

02/11/2005: The Global Trajectory Optimisation Workshop will take place in ESTEC, 2nd February 2006.
