Neus worked on binary asteroid and on trajectories to characterise at best these systems Lukas Shimmer worked on relativistic effects on orbital mechanics Nina Ridder, together with Friederike Sontag, was a young Graduate Trainee that started the Advanced Concepts Team research area of Earth Science. Christos Ampatzis has been a research fellow in Artificial Intelligence. His work concentrated on Evolutionary Robotics techniques applied to rover navigation. His contributions spanned all the research fields of the ACT culminating with the famous paper 'Artificial Life on the Galapagos Island' starting a new trend in the field. David di Lorenzo spent three months in the ACT as a 'visiting scientist' and performed some important work on global constrained optimization. His work was a crucial step in defining a high-fidelity automated solution strategy for low-thrust transfers in the interplanetary medium. Nikolas Smyrlakis was the team first Young Graduate Trainee on Computational Management Science. He performed in depth analysis of the innovation processes in monopsony markets Nicholas Weiss performed an intership with team and later with TEC department, studying the optimality of nature inspired optical flow landing strategies. Tobias Seidl was the first biologist in the Advanced Concpets Team and performed detailed work on coackroach behaviours for reactive spacecraft control and neuromorphic computations for optic flow based landing. Marek Rucinski was a YGT in Artificial Intelligence. While in the ACT he was central to the Curiosity Cloning project creating the open source software CCViewer used later from EPFL and DCU to perform the experiments on all subjects. He later focussed on the study of the migration topology and its effect on the outcome of evolutionary computations Kevin was a YGT in Ariadna. He worked thoroughly on the use of modern web technologies to improve the connectivity and outreach of the team. He also experimented with different techniques to stimulate creative thinking in corporate think tanks and technical teams. Oisin was a YGT in Energy Systems. His contributions ranged from the preparation of the Furoshiki II experiment to the organization of the Planetary Defence Conference to the studies on wireless energy transmission to his memorable help in making the ACT soccer team the best of the season. Jussi was a stagiaire in the team working on ant navigation. During his project we tried to learn from a complex model of the ant dynamic how to use odometry for planetary navigation. David Sword was a stagiaire in the team who worked on distributed computing for evolutionary computations. His contribution was the first concrete step towards the establishment of a BOINC project for the European Space Agency Jose has been the first ACT research fellow on Nanotechnologies, his work focused on nanostructured thermal radiator and space applications for metamaterials. During summer 2008 he completed the first large distributed computations within the Agency producing a large amount of data on the inverse design of miscrostructure radiators. Amelie was a stagiaire on Biomimetics and made some preliminary work on plant stem inspiration for vibration damping on spacecraft booms. Maria performed a stage on Nanotechnologies exploring the dynamic of artificial nanoparticles within the solar system. Luzi was a research fellow on Fundamental Physics contributing to several aspects of the team projects and initiating the first studies on non linear effect of GR on the dynamics of point masses in the solar system and producing significant advances on transformation optics applied to Metamaterials. Aurelien worked on general relativity effects on relative motion. During his stage an extremely interesting effect was discovered on fast vibrating systems, that could have implications on future GR tests. Marco del Rey Zapatero was a YGT in Artificial Intelligence. He also came to be appreciated in the group as 'the automagician' for his abilities of automating every single daily operation. His contributions to the AI, computer science and mission analysis projects were crucial and left an important heritage in the group. xxxxx Naomi Murdoch worked in the area of Near Earth Asteroids. She was a focal contact during the release of the Ariadna call for ideas Encounter 2029 and she was the main responsible for the scientific publication on the ACT electrostatic gravity tractor concept. Laura Torres Soto worked on several system engineering projects. Francois Nuyttens worked on restructuring the Ariadna programme. He introduced several improvements starting from the Web 2.0 analysis of the Ariadna network and a preliminary social network implementation. Luca Rossini worked on Bio-engineering research. He participated to the parabolic flight campaign for the testing of brain machine interfaces in space. He also coordinated the ACT publication on BMI for space application and was the main author of several papers on the subject. Tamas Vinko has been both the ACT mathematician and the computer scientist, he developed DiGMO, the ACT semantic web technologies and promoted the use of Web 2.0 in the team (e.g. del.icio.us.). Claudio Bombardelli carried out work in area of Mission Analysis and design. He created the asteroid fragmentation concept and performed important prliminary analysis on it. Daniela Girimonte has been the first RF in Artificial Intelligence. Her work focussed on decision support systems for spacecraft design and situation awarness. Zoe Szajnfarber has been a staigiare working on the dynamic of innovation within the ESA science programme. Nicolo Alberti has been a staigiare working on the use of satelliters swarms in space missions.
