Hurricane Lili moving inland over Louisiana on 2 October 2002, northwards along the Mississipi River Valley. As most hurricanes, this severe storm was born as a strong convective cloud cluster in the tropical belt over the Western Atlantic Ocean. It grew rapidly whilst moving westwards and hit Cuba and the Caribbean Islans causing major damages. Eventually, over the Gulf of Mexico it turned northwards and hit Louisiana. Moving over land it started to weaken due to the loss of its main energy source, due to the strong ocean evaporation and subsequent water vapour condensation in its thunderstorm cloud clusters.
