Garment designed by Vivien Adrian, student at ESMOD Berlin
Not only to raise awareness about the increase in the melting of ice sheets around the world, but also to create a positive image for Earth protection, the focus is on sportswear apparel and the kind of extreme sports that one could do in polar areas.
“Many are unaware of the speed at which the ice sheets are melting in Greenland and Antarctic, leading to increasingly rising sea levels.”
A sustainable collection that considers the reduction of emissions causing the melting of the ice sheets. The design focus is set on merging sportswear and technology, such as GPS trackers, heat and daylight sensors and body monitoring systems, so as to increase safety and enhance the wearer’s performance in polar locations. The focal point of the design is emphasised through the structure of the pieces; using techniques like layering and voluminous folds and shades to avoid that the wearer becomes lost against the background environment.
