Two years ago at Le Bourget 2013, ESA Business Incubation Centre (BIC) Sud France was inaugurated with five offices in three regions in Southern France.
It has already grown to be a very successful example of how young, innovative entrepreneurs can be supported in order to start and boost successful businesses using space technologies and satellite data in other non-space sectors.
Currently ESA BIC Sud France supports nearly 20 start-up companies: a clear demonstration of the numerous opportunities stemming from space technologies. By the nurturing of these start-up companies ESA, together with the local partners, helps to turn their ideas into viable companies while creating new jobs at the same time.
A ceremony took place to celebrate the ESA BIC Sud France 2nd Anniversary, at the ESA Pavilion during the Paris Air & Space show, on 18 June 2015. From left: Michel Fiat (President Pégase), Jean-Jacques Dordain (ESA Director General), Agnès Paillard (Aerospace Valley) and Didier Lapierre (CNES).
