Introducing the new ECSL Executive Officer

The ECSL is proud to announce that Rosanna Hoffmann (Germany) will take over the role as the ECSL Executive Officer from the 8 March 2021.

Before joining the ECSL, Rosanna worked at the Section for International Law and International Relations within the Department of European, International and Comparative Law at the University of Vienna as a lecturer and project assistant. Her areas of expertise covered included public international law, as well as space law. She participated in various international conferences as a speaker, presenting her research in the law of international relations and space law.

Rosanna was part of the Manfred Lachs Space Law Moot Court Team from the University of Vienna in 2019/2020, which not only won the European Rounds, but also was awarded the Runner-up, as well as the Eileen Galloway Award for World’s best Memorial in the World Rounds. Her memorial will be published as part of the International Institute of Space Law’s Proceedings in 2021. Through the competition, she was able to gain extensive knowledge in space law and policy.

Rosanna also gained experience working within the Austrian Ministry of Justice. Responsible for three sub-divisions within the Austrian penal system, she was also in charge of managing the employees at these subdivisions. Her additional responsibilities were related to administrative processes, as well as labour law tasks. As part of the recruitment process for her employees, Rosanna worked at the organizational division of multiple congresses. Prior to working at the Ministry of Justice, Rosanna was able to successfully complete an internship at the legal department of the Mondi Group, a multinational company.

Rosanna holds a Master’s degree in International Relations from Danube University Krems and a Bachelor’s degree in Political Science from the University of Vienna. Within her master thesis at the Danube University Krems, she delved into the importance of multilateralism between International Organisation in connection with peacekeeping operations, establishing her knowledge in public international law. Her thesis at the University of Vienna analysed the Europeanisation of the Austrian Constitution within the fields of European Law and Constitutional Law. She is additionally pursuing an education in law, currently finishing her Master’s degree in Law at the University of Vienna. Within her law studies, she chose to specialize in public international law.

She is very much looking forward to her term as Executive Secretary of the ECSL!
