Report 2019 IISL/ECSL Symposia

This event is co-organised annually with the International Institute of Space Law (IISL) and takes place at the opening of the annual session of the Legal Subcommittee of the United Nations Committee on the Peaceful Use of Outer Space (UNCOPUOS) in Vienna, Austria. The IISL and ECSL are both observers at the Legal Subcommittee. This symposium brings together academic experts and leading practitioners in the field of space law, policy and regulation to discuss pressing issues and to propose solutions to the international community.

Celebrating ECSL 30th Anniversary

In addition to celebrating the Moon Agreement Anniversary, the IISL/ECSL Symposia was also the opportunity to celebrate yet another anniversary: the 30th anniversary of the ECSL. The event took place right after the Symposia and gathered ECSL members present to the UNCOPUOS LSC. As it has become tradition, the ECSL also invited some of its members to observe the work of the Legal Subcommittee and attend the IISL/ECSL Symposium.

For the occasion, a Letter Of Intent between the Space Generation Advisory Council (SGAC) and the ECSL allowing one student from a non-ESA Member State to participate to the 28^th ECSL Summer Course was signed.

The Letter Of Intent was signed by ECSL Chairman Prof. Sergio Marchisio and Clémentine Decoopman from SGAC.
