The European Space Agency (ESA) is an intergovernmental organisation established by the Convention which was opened for signature in Paris, France, on 30 May 1975 and entered into force on 30 October 1980. Through ESA, its Member States agreed to provide for and to promote, for exclusively peaceful purposes, cooperation among them in space research and technology and their space applications, with a view to their being used for scientific purposes and for operational space applications systems.

The purpose of the present web pages, dedicated to legal services, is to present an overview of the legal frame in which ESA conducts its activities.
