The coating structure of the Hydro*Jacket mimics the physical mechanisms for human body thermo-regulation. The jacket has been developed to safeguard firefighters and steel workers by the Italian company Grado Zero Espace. The heat insulating technology, which has been made available through ESA's Technology Transfer Programme Office (TTPO), was originally used for space suits to protect astronauts against the heat from direct sunlight. Here the jacket is demonstrated at ESA’s TTPO demonstration at the ESA Pavilion at the Paris Air Show Le Bourget, 20 June 2007.
