Applications are now open for the ESA Summer and Autumn Teacher workshops 2019. The summer edition will take place from 9 to 12 July, and the autumn edition from 3 to 6 October. Both workshops take place in the Netherlands and are geared both toward primary and secondary STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) teachers.

The deadline to apply for both workshops is Friday 1 March 09:00 CET.

What to expect
The workshops, identical in both summer and autumn editions, will feature keynote lectures from top-level space experts and visits to the ESA ESTEC facilities. Over the course of a four-day programme, the participants will engage in practical training sessions that demonstrate how to use space in the classroom as an inspirational context.

In the year that marks the 50th anniversary of the first human landing on the Moon, the teachers will be able to explore the Moon with hands-on activities and hear from ESA experts about the future plans for robotic and human exploration. The participants will also explore our own planet from space and learn about innovative space technology.

The workshops also represent a unique opportunity for teachers to network with their peers and space experts from across Europe.

Who can apply?
The workshops are open to primary and secondary school teachers of STEM-related subjects residing and working within any of ESA’s Member States, as well as Canada and Slovenia.

Please note that priority will be given to teachers who have never participated in previous teacher workshops given by ESA before.

How and when to apply
Teachers wishing to participate in one of the workshops should complete the application form. Teachers are selected based on the information provided. It is mandatory to complete all the fields in the online form.

The deadline for receipt of applications for both workshops is 1 March 2019, 09:00 CET. Successful applicants will be informed until 18 March 2019.
