 Programme:  GSTP  Achieved TRL:  3-4
 Reference:  G517-153ET  Closure:  2016
 Contractor(s):  Syrlinks (FR)

In this GSTP activity, Syrlinks developed a breadboard model of an S-band transponder demonstrating full ranging capabilities.

The previous version of the transponder, without the ranging functionality, was developed under the CNES Myriade Evolution program, which is a platform for micro-satellites.

Objectives
Develop a low-cost S-band transponder, based on class-3 components, and providing coherency and ranging functionalities.

Achievements
A bread-board model was completed and delivered to ESA. Full functional validation, based upon laboratory measurements, was successfully undertaken. The full ranging and coherency functionality was validated under typical operating conditions.

Benefits
Provides a fully-fledge, low-cost S-band transponder for micro-satellites.

Next steps
Additional funding is now required to have complete the Engineering Model and Engineering Qualification Model.

This activity was presented at the Coordinated Final Presentation Days (CFPDs - now SET-FPDs) at ESTEC in November 2016. Please follow the links on the right hand side to get access to the final presentation and to watch the recorded presentation.
