N° 2–2000: ESA Director General to meet the press in Paris

12 January 2000

On Thursday 20 January, ESA Director General Antonio Rodotà will be meeting the media at ESA Headquarters in Paris for a press breakfast, starting at 08:30, to take stock of the Agency's achievements in 1999 and go through the list of activities planned in 2000.

In a nutshell: this year will see the launch of several ESA science and Earth observation missions, plus further assembly missions to the International Space Station, with the first European astronaut due to start work.

ESA will also have to prepare a fully developed European Space Strategy for submission to Council by the end of the year, with a view to the next Council meeting at ministerial level in 2001.

Media representatives wishing to attend are kindly requested to complete the attached accreditation form and return it, preferably by fax, to the ESA Public Relations Division in Paris (Fax + 33 (0)1.53.69.76.90).
