From miniature antennas fitting cubesats, drones for inside industrial inspection, quicker emergency and disaster intervention thanks to EO data, maximization flight mission productivity to accurate measuring of temperatures from -250 C to 1000c, all solutions thanks to satellites and space spin-offs. This week at the Paris Air show, eleven of Europe `s top-notch start-ups from ESA BICs will present their cutting-edge space solutions at the PARIS AIR LAB.

PARIS AIR LAB: spotlight on industrial innovations and start-ups

At the Paris Space Show (PAL), 12 booths are dedicated in the Concorde hall to new comers: PARIS AIR LAB dedicated to innovation and prospective in the aerospace sector presents 80 start-ups from more than 20 countries around the world. Each day 12 start-ups showcase their innovative, forefront technologies and solutions illustrating what space of tomorrow will bring and can achieve.

ESA BICs - the world`s largest eco system for space-related entrepreneurship

Eleven of these start-ups are fostered at the ESA Business Incubation Centres (ESA BICs). With 20 centres spread across some 60 cities in 17 countries, the ESA BIC network has fostered over 750 start-ups throughout Europe, each year adding another 180+ start-ups to its portfolio.

Listen to the pitches each afternoon at 4pm to get a quick view of the opportunities offered by the start-ups.

Visit the 12 innovation stands at the Concordia hall and meet the entrepreneurs to learn more about their solutions and find out how they can help you out on your next `space mission`.

ESA Business Applications and Space Solutions

The network of 20 ESA Business Incubation Centres is part of ESA’s Business Applications and Space Solutions programme which also includes 15 ESA Innovation Partners and 14 ESA Ambassadors throughout Europe. It co-funds projects and start-ups, while also offering technical and business support to companies that seek to deliver rapid innovation and to raise private investment.

Overall ESA spends €400 million a year on strengthening the competitiveness of European and Canadian companies in the global markets for both satellite communications andr downstream applications.

The ESA Business Incubation Centres (ESA BICs) form the largest ecosystem in the world for space-related entrepreneurship, and offer complete access to all aspects of space-related innovation, technology and intellectual properties and is a gateway to ESA and European space research and developments. Located in Austria, Belgium, Czech Republic, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Norway, Portugal, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, the Netherlands and UK, with more to open, over 700 start-ups have been fostered and another 180 new start-ups are taken in yearly to be supported under the two-years business development booster programme.
